  • B.A. (1993 – 1997) in English Literature at Cornell University M.A. and Ph.D. (1999 – 2007) in Comparative Literature University of Chicago with a focus on the theory of the novel, political engagement, and film.
  • Lecturer of French and Italian (2000 – 2009) at Fordham University, New York University, and Columbia College Chicago.
  • Lecturer of Academic Writing (2002 – 2009) at University of Chicago, Fordham University, and New York University.
  • Postdoctoral Fellow (2009 – 2012) at Stanford University, teaching Humanities, close reading and academic writing.
  • Lecturer of English for academic purposes, Academic writing (2013 - 2015) at University of Stuttgart


Current activities

I am currently the Coordinator of the Academic Writing program at the Language Center, designing and teaching courses in academic and scientific writing for publication, in coordination with various departments at the UZH and ETH. In addition, I teach semester courses in academic and scientific writing to Master’s and doctoral students. Finally, I am working to develop the Writing Center at the Language Center, which currently offers one-on-one consultations to writers from all fields at the ETH and UZH.


Current Interests

I am always investigating new methods and materials for teaching scientific writing, as well as developing new workshop ideas and consultation services for students and staff to receive input on their academic and scientific writing.
