German B1 level is a prerequisite for this course. However, sign language is three-dimensional and is produced differently from spoken language. On the one hand, the eyes are used to perceive the language; on the other hand, the hands, upper body, head (position), cheeks, facial expressions, and mouth are used to produce a linguistic message. The mouth image is usually based on German words.
Yes. Our Swiss-German sign language A1.1 course is offered every semester.
No. At the moment, we offer Swiss-German sign language only at A1.1 level. Participants with prior knowledge cannot be admitted to the course.
No, our Swiss-German sign language course is designed for complete beginners. We recommend that you work on your skills independently. Materials are available at our Self-Access Center.
