Selecting a German course from A1 to A2 level

I have completed the German 1:  A1.1 course.

I have some German language skills; my German language level is A1.

Before starting this course, I feel confident in the following skills listed on the self-evaluation checklist (PDF, 328 KB): 

I can understand questions and instructions addressed carefully and slowly to me and follow short, simple directions.

I can understand numbers, prices, and times.

I can ask and answer simple questions and initiate and respond to simple statements in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.

I can give personal information and describe where I live.

I can say when I don’t understand.

I can fill in a questionnaire with my personal details (job, age, address, hobbies).

I have attained 45-75% (19-30 points) in the  Cornelsen A1 online placement test.

I have completed the German 1: A1.1 and German  2: A1.2 courses.

I have gained A1-level German skills and wish to start working towards A2 language skills.

Before starting this course, I feel confident in the following skills listed on theself-evaluation checklist (PDF, 328 KB):

I can generally identify the topic of discussion around me when people speak slowly and clearly.

I can ask people questions about where they live, people they know, things they have, etc., and answer such questions addressed to me, provided they are articulated slowly and clearly.

I can indicate time by using phrases such as “nächste Woche,” “am Montag,” “im November,” and “um drei Uhr.”

I can discuss with other people what to do and where to go, and I can make arrangements to meet.

I can say what I like and dislike. 

I have attained 75-85% (30-35 points) in the  Cornelsen A1 online placement test.

I have completed the Basic German 1, 2, 3 courses.

I have gained all A1 level German skills, am confident at this level, and have started working towards the A2 level:

I can understand phrases, words, and expressions related to areas of most immediate priority (e.g., basic personal and family information, local area, employment).

I can generally identify the topic of discussion around me when people speak clearly.

I can identify important information in simple newspaper articles.

I can describe my educational background and my present job or education.

I can write a simple text about a familiar topic.

I have attained at least 80% (33 points) in the Cornelsen A1 online placement test.

I have completed the A level German 1, 2, 3, and 4 courses and wish to start working towards B1 language skills.

Before starting this course, I feel confident in the following skills listed on the self-evaluation checklist (PDF, 328 KB):

I can follow clearly articulated speech directed at me in everyday conversation, though I sometimes have to ask for repetition of particular words and phrases.

I can understand the main points in short newspaper articles about current and familiar topics.

I can maintain a conversation or discussion but it may sometimes be difficult to follow when trying to say exactly what I would like to.

I can give detailed accounts of experiences, describing feelings and reactions.

I can write simple texts about experiences or events, for example about a trip.

I have attained at least 75-85 % (30-35 points) in the  Cornelsen A2 online placement test.
